Driving Inclusion Forward, One Swing at a Time
Local Businesses are helping create opportunities, connection, and belonging for people with disabilities through golf outings.
On Monday, August 31, 2026, CEL will host its Annual Golf Tournament at Twin Orchard Country Club in Long Grove. The outing raises critical support for CEL programs and services while bringing together longtime supporters, partners, and new faces for a great day on the course.
The success of this tournament is driven by title sponsor AIT Worldwide Logistics and their generosity, along with the advocacy and connections of information technology leader CDW Corporation. Alongside these longtime leaders in inclusion and advocacy, dozens of local and national businesses sponsor the event each year, showing their support for people with disabilities and the importance of building a more inclusive community.
But the official CEL golf outing is not the only time golfers hit the green to benefit CEL. For the past decade, two local businesses have hosted tournaments of their own to raise additional funds and awareness for people with disabilities and the organizations that support them.
Blitt and Gaines, PC will host its 11th annual golf outing on August 19 at Chevy Chase Golf Course, while Weinberg Choi Residential will celebrate its 10th annual outing on August 1 at Wilmette Golf Club. Over the years, these partnerships have grown far beyond fundraising.
The 10-year milestone of the Weinberg Choi outing is expected to push total fundraising close to the $500,000 mark in support of inclusive education. Josh Weinberg and Tommy Choi have made philanthropy a core part of their company culture through their “365 Days of Giving” initiative, which supports a different organization each month through volunteer experiences and community engagement.
Following The Nora Project’s integration into CEL, the partnership became even more personal for many members of the Weinberg Choi team. Employees volunteered directly within CEL programs, spending time with members, creating art, having conversations, and experiencing the organization’s impact firsthand.
“Our team had a blast and was texting about it all night,” said Josh Weinberg. “We appreciated the opportunity to get to know CEL staff and members and better understand the importance of an inclusive community. This was very impactful for us and means a lot.”
Dan Walsh, who leads the golf outing, described the event as an opportunity to create meaningful relationships throughout the community while advocating for more inclusive practices.
“Our goal is to create a relationship where both our team and CEL feel the impact of each other’s contributions and propel each other forward,” he said.
That same long-term commitment can also be seen through the BG-AdvaCare Charity Golf Outing, hosted by Blitt and Gaines PC, which has supported CEL for more than a decade through annual fundraising efforts.
Fred Blitt’s connection to CEL extends well beyond the golf course. As a longtime CEL Board Member and supporter, Fred and the Blitt & Gaines team have invested in the organization not only through fundraising, but through employment opportunities for CEL members as well.
Last year, Fred Blitt and Office Manager Jill Sevelow stopped by CEL to deliver a check for $36,000 raised through the outing. Golfers also generously donated their contest winnings back to CEL to further support programs and services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Support like this helps create opportunities for people with disabilities to build friendships, strengthen independence, discover new interests, gain confidence, and experience belonging.
These outings also create connections between businesses, volunteers, families, staff, and members. People spend time together, learn from one another, and become more connected to experiences outside of their own.
That sense of community is part of what has made these partnerships so meaningful year after year.
As all three golf outings approach, we invite you to support any or all of them. Thank you to AIT, CDW, Blitt and Gaines PC, Weinberg Choi Residential, and all of the businesses, sponsors, golfers, and supporters who continue investing in a more inclusive community.
